Hackettstown, NJ - The Neumann College men's lacrosse team travelled to Centenary College today to take on the Cyclones. The Knights were looking for their second conference victory. The Cyclones proved to be a tad better as the defeated the Knights 9-6. The first quarter saw the Knights fall behind 3-1. Centenary's Colin Aldino, Nate Small and Jason Reig worked together to help give the Cyclones the lead. Neumann's Kyle Gardner put the Knights on the board as the quarter reached it's mid-way point. In the second quarter both teams were only able to score a goal each. Neumann's Mike McQuade scored on an assist from Gardner. While Centenary's Small scored on another assist from Reig. The score at half-time would stand 4-2 in favor of the Cyclones. In the third quarter the Cyclones took control of the game scoring four goals in succession. Once again Gardner would help the Knights respond by notching another goal in an effort to keep the Knights close. Headed into the fourth quarter the Knights found themselves down 8-3. The Knights would make a great push in the fourth quarter but their effort would fall short of victory. Gardner would score twice for the Knights. Sandwiched in between those goals would be freshmen standout Justin Mailloux's goal. But it would be there that the Knights run would stop. The Knights fall to 1-9 overall and 1-3 in conference while the Cyclones improve to 3-7 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Knights will travel to Eastern on Saturday April 12. Game time is set for 1 p.m. |
